The purpose of this competency is to teach you how to plan and design relational databases. This competency will help you as an IT professional to understand relational database fundamentals and database design methodology. You will also review Structured Query Language and relational algebra. This knowledge will help you be a valuable member of project dealing with databases.
Upon successful mastery of this competency, you will be able to:
- Identify various types of databases and database management systems.
- Distinguish between relational data models, schemas, manipulations, and attributes.
- Translate logical data models into their corresponding physical data models for a given database management system.
- Employ Data Definition Language (DDL) to create statements.
